Hickenlooper to helm Sedgwick biopic
PARK CITY, Utah — The Weinstein Co. has acquired all rights in North America, U.K., Australia, New Zealand and South Africa to “Factory Girl,” the upcoming Edie Sedgwick biopic starring Sienna Miller, Hayden Christensen, Guy Pearce, Mena Suvari and Jimmy Fallon.
George Hickenlooper is helming.
Deal was sealed with L.I.F.T. Prods. and brokered by TWC acquisitions head Agnes Mentre. TWC’s Michelle Krumm brought the project to the company.
Currently in production in Shreveport, La., pic is being produced by Holly Wiersma and Aaron Richard Golub.
J. Malcolm Petal, Kimberly Anderson and Morris Bart exec produce.
Penned by Captain Mauzner (“Wonderland”), “Girl” is set in 1965, the year Sedgwick met Andy Warhol and became known as his muse. She died of a drug overdose in 1971, at the age of 28.
“Captain Mauzner has written a great script and we are excited to be working with director George Hickenlooper,” said Krumm.
Sony had been in talks to make a preemptive buy on the pic before TWC entered the fray to nab the project.
Weinstein Co. is screening its acquisition “Lucky Number Slevin” here at Sundance.
