The Weinstein Co. has upped Kelly Carmichael and Carla Gardini to senior VPs of production.
They will continue supervising specific projects, as well as working closely with co-prexy of production Michael Cole and Harvey Weinstein on development of the company’s slate.
Carmichael began her career at Miramax Films in 1999 as an exec assistant. She was named creative exec in 2003 and was named VP of production upon joining TWC last fall. She is presently overseeing production on “The Nanny Diaries.”
Joining Miramax in 1998 as an assistant, Gardini left in 2001 to work for Paramount co-vice chairman John Goldwyn. She rejoined Miramax as a creative exec in 2003 and joined TWC as VP of production last fall as well. She is working on “Fan Boys” and is an exec producer on the upcoming “Clerks II,” which will receive a special midnight screening at Cannes.
Gardini and Carmichael are overseeing “The Great Debaters,” which Denzel Washington is directing, and a biopic of fictitious author JT Leroy based on a trio of articles penned by New York Times writer Warren St. John.
