Studio acquires Stempel, Robinson pitch

Paramount Pictures has made nice with scribes Dyanne Stempel and Jennifer Robinson, acquiring their pitch “Frenemies.” Caitlin Scanlon will produce through her newly formed shingle Pounce Pictures.

Described as similar in tone to “The War of the Roses,” story centers on two best friends who become archenemies.

“Frenemies” is the third pitch the writing duo have set up at a studio. Other projects include “Rebound Guy,” with Hugh Jackman attached at 20th Century Fox; “The Fiance,” at the Walt Disney Co.; and “Hostile Makeover,” at Universal Pictures.

Scanlon has exec producer credits on Universal’s “Bring It On,” DreamWorks’ “Dreamer” and Paramount’s “Coach Carter.”
