Screen Yorkshire gets new topper

Joynson appointed chief exec

LONDON — Sally Joynson has been appointed chief executive of Screen Yorkshire, the regional agency backed by the U.K. Film Council.

Johnson has worked for the org since it was established in 2002, as head of industry development and, since December, acting chief exec.

In May Joynson was instrumental in securing £10.2 million ($19.25 million) in funding from regional development agency Yorkshire Forward for an ambitious four-year program.

“Her steady approach has given Screen Yorkshire clarity and purpose as we face the exciting challenge of growing the region’s screen industries,” said Screen Yorkshire chairman Steve Abbott.

Screen Yorkshire is backed by the U.K. Film Council, Yorkshire Forward and government-backed training org Skillset.
