Kacandes named exec veep physical production

Georgia Kacandes has been named exec veep of physical production at Paramount Pictures’ specialty division. She oversees all aspects of physical production, reporting to newly installed prexy John Lesher.

Kacandes recently exec produced the Jack Black starrer “Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny” for New Line, and produced “Syriana” for Warner Bros. Pictures and Section 8. Other credits include exec producing Ted Demme’s “Blow” and co-producing James Mangold’s “Girl, Interrupted” and Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Rainmaker.”

“Her experience, reputation and stature in the business made her truly the ideal candidate for us to help create the kind of company that can work with both newer talent as well as more established filmmakers,” Lesher said.

Kacandes began her career as a production coordinator and unit production manager.
