IFC adds ‘Sex,’ ‘Dolls’

Studio buys North American distrib rights to Zahedi, Klapisch pics

IFC Films has bought North American distrib rights to writer-director Caveh Zahedi’s autobiographical comedy “I Am a Sex Addict” and French helmer Cedric Klapisch’s “Russian Dolls,” starring Romain Duris and Audrey Tautou.

“Sex Addict” is about an insecure young man who becomes hooked on prostitutes, ruining his relationships. Pic recently picked up a 2005 Gotham Award for the best film not playing at a theater near you.

“Russian Dolls” reunites the group of Barcelona flatmates depicted in Klapisch’s dark romantic comedy “L’Auberge espagnole.” Storyline centers on an aimless aspiring writer who can’t seem to hold down a job or keep a romance going. “Dolls,” from a screenplay penned by Klapisch, also stars Kelly Reilly.

IFC Entertainment prexy Jonathan Sehring said the two acquisitions represent a “divergent spectrum of filmmaking” that should connect with auds.
