BERLIN — Pubcaster ZDF’s lavish World War II mini “Dresden” and commercial channel Sat.1’s postwar drama “The Airlift” are among nominees for German TV movie.
The German Television Award nominations, announced Thursday, also included ARD’s “Der Mann im Strom” (The Man in the Current) and ProSieben’s “Meine verrueckte tuerkische Hochzeit” (My Crazy Turkish Wedding).
ZDF leads in all major categories, which include series, sitcom, comedy, entertainment and documentary, with 24 nominees. It’s followed by pubcaster ARD with 21, RTL with 10 and Sat.1 and ProSieben with five each.
Produced by Berlin-based TeamWorx, “Dresden” and “The Airlift” were among this year’s highest-rated TV pics.
In series category, the 11-member jury nominated ARD’s hit comedy-drama “Tuerkisch fuer Anfaenger” (Turkish for Beginners), RTL’s “Die Familienanwaeltin” (Family Attorney) and Sat 1’s soccer skein “Freunde fuer immer — Das Leben ist rund” (Friends Forever — Life Is Round).
Established in 1999, the German Television Awards bestow prizes in 21 categories. The ceremony will take place Oct. 20 in Cologne.
