Trio zoom in on kudos

Helmer Gilmore, exec Kamen, film editor Allen to be feted Feb. 20

Sundance director Geoffrey Gilmore, @radical.media topper Jon Kamen and former Warner Bros. senior veep and film editor Dede Allen will receive lifetime achievement honors at the upcoming Zoom In Awards — which fete below-the-line talent — Feb. 20 in Gotham.

Second annual Zoom In honors, hosted by Magnet Media, also will present kudos in the areas of film and TV editing, cinematography and f/x.

Jurors for this year’s awards include “Laurel Canyon” helmer Lisa Cholodenko, HDNet Films and Deutsch Open City Films’ co-head Jason Kliot, HBO Films’ Maud Nadler, Toronto film fest programmer Steve Gravestock and filmmakers’ rep John Pierson.

“Most awards exclusively recognize the actors and directors in the industry,” said Magnet CEO Megan Cunningham. “But anyone that has ever set foot on the set of a production knows that the best work is always a result of a collaboration. We designed these awards to recognize the hidden talent working behind the scenes.”

Gilmore has been responsible for pic selection and programming of Sundance since 1990. The fest runs this year Jan. 19-29.

Kamen has exec produced pics including “Metallica: Some Kind of Monster” and “The Fog of War.”

As an editor, Allen has cut pics including “Serpico,” “Dog Day Afternoon” and “Bonnie and Clyde,” as well as more recent efforts “Wonder Boys” and “John Q.”
