Charlize Theron has been tapped to receive the Los Angeles Film Festival’s Spirit of Independence Award at a June 28 ceremony.
Clips of the thesp’s work will be shown at the award presentation, followed by a conversation between the star and Elvis Mitchell.
Event, thrown by Film Independent, is billed as an opportunity for emerging filmmakers to hear Theron speak about her creative process and influences.
“The Spirit of Independence Award was created to recognize accomplished artists who have charted their own course,” said Film Independent exec director Dawn Hudson.
LAFF also said Thursday that turntablist Danger Mouse will serve as its artist in residence. He’ll take part in a discussion Monday at 7 p.m. at Westwood’s Hammer Museum.
