Hollywood union publicists have tapped producer Sid Ganis, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, to receive a lifetime achievement award.
Kudos will be presented at the 44th annual Publicists Awards ceremonies Feb. 7 at the Beverly Hilton. Past recipients include Julie Andrews, Clint Eastwood, Warren Beatty, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lew Wasserman and Army Archerd.
Ganis is being recognized for his work as a publicity and marketing executive, film producer and Academy president. He’s in his 20th year as an Acad board member representing the public relations branch.
“Sid reflects the highest standards of the public relations profession,” said award committee chairman Henri Bollinger. “His background in marketing has also led him to become a successful producer and effective advocate for the entire film industry.”
Ganis has produced “Mr. Deeds,” “Big Daddy” and “Deuce Bigalow” through his Out of the Blue shingle. He also has worked as an exec at Warner Bros., Lucasfilm, Paramount and Sony.
