Oscar taps Altman for honorary nod

'MASH' helmer has received five directing noms

Robert Altman will receive an honorary award at the 78th annual Academy Awards.

Altman has received five Oscar nominations for directing (“MASH,” “Nashville,” “The Player,” “Short Cuts” and “Gosford Park”) and two for producing (“Nashville,” “Gosford Park”), but this Oscar statuette will be his first.

His latest project, “A Prairie Home Companion” is in post-production.

Kudocast airs March 5 on ABC from the Kodak Theater.
