World Brief

Comedy “Kenny” took the prize for feature at the Screen Producers’ Assn. of Australia’s low-key awards Wednesday, capping a dream run for the portable-potty pic at the box office and with crix.

On day one of the SPAA confab at the Sheraton Mirage on Queensland’s Gold Coast, peer-judged prizes went to Cordell/Jigsaw for doc “Two Men in a Tinnie”; AIP Entertainment, taking the kidvid trophy for “Streetsmartz”; and Laura Waters, who accepted the comedy prize for Chris Lilley’s “We Can Be Heroes” comedy skein.

“Answered by Fire,” the last show produced by Simpson LeMesurier before the 25-year-old company shuttered, won the TV drama award. The Maura Fay Award for services to the industry went posthumously to completion guarantor Rob Fisher.
