EFA critics laud ‘Amants’

Pic to pick up prize at EFAs

Philippe Garrel’s “Les Amants reguliers” (Regular Lovers) will receive the European Film Academy’s Critics’ Award during the EFA awards ceremony Saturday in Warsaw.

Intl. Federation of Film Critics (Fipresci) prez Andrei Plakhov hailed Garrel’s career — which began at age 16 – saying, “His films are like fake detective stories, where mystery lies not in the plot but in the style.”

“Regular Lovers,” which stars helmer’s son Louis Garrel as an emotionally and intellectually conflicted young man in late-’60s Paris, won a Silver Lion for directing and a cinematography prize at Venice in 2005.
