Directors Guild docu noms take Iraq tack

DGA nominates McAllister, Renauds

The helmers of two films set in Baghdad are among the five finalists for the Directors Guild of America’s documentary award.

Guild selected Sean McAllister for “The Liberace of Baghdad” and Brent Renaud and Craig Renaud for “Off to War: Welcome to Baghdad.” The other nominees are Kief Davidson and Richard Ladkani for “The Devil’s Miner,” Werner Herzog for “Grizzly Man” and Rupert Murray for “Unknown White Male.”

All seven directors are first-time nominees.
