George Clooney will receive the 21st American Cinematheque Award at the org’s annual benefit gala Oct. 13.
American Cinematheque honors an actor, writer or director who is committed to making a contribution to the motion picture industry.
American Cinematheque board chairman Rick Nicita said Clooney has proved his talents as an actor, director, writer and producer.
“His personal commitment to trying to make the world a better place is reflected both onscreen and in his offscreen social activism,” Nicita said.
Past winners include Al Pacino, Steve Martin and Nicole Kidman. Tribute airs on AMC in December.
