BAFTA/LA sets presenter list

Fry to host for first time

Halle Berry, Tim Robbins, Sydney Pollack, Dustin Hoffman and Rene Russo will be among presenters at the British Academy of Film & Television Arts/Los Angeles’ Cunard Britannia Awards on Nov. 2, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel.

Multihyphenate Stephen Fry will host BAFTA/LA’s annual lifetime achievement awards gala for the first time.

Fry has hosted the BAFTA Film Awards in London for the past six years, but announced Sunday (Oct. 8) that he is stepping down.

Previously announced honorees at the Cunard Britannia Awards are: Clint Eastwood, who will receive the Stanley Kubrick Britannia for excellence in film; Anthony Minghella, who will receive the John Schlesinger Britannia for directing; Rachel Weisz, taking the Britannia for artist of the year; and Sidney Poitier, who gets the Britannia for lifetime contributions to international film.

Founded in 1987, BAFTA/LA is an independent, nonprofit organization with 1,200 members in the Los Angeles-based film and TV industries.
