Thesp to host DGA Honors

The Directors Guild of America has tapped Hank Azaria to host its DGA Honors event Oct. 12 at the Directors Guild of America Theater in Gotham.

The awards event will be followed by a gala at Nobu 57.

Lorraine Bracco will present the award to Mayor Michael Bloomberg for his success in bringing film and television production back to New York City.

James Gandolfini, Edie Falco and Peter Bogdanovich will present the DGA Honor to producer-director David Chase for creating “The Sopranos.” Most of the skein’s cast is expected to attend.

Jonathan Demme will present the honor to director Arthur Penn, who’s being feted for films such as “Bonnie and Clyde,” “The Miracle Worker” and “Alice’s Restaurant.” Don Cheadle will present the DGA Honor to Danny Glover for his work in improving health care and education for children in the U.S. and Africa.
