“I Just Didn’t Do It” is a hard-hitting drama about a man accused of groping a woman in the subway and who decides to challenge the presumption of guilt that dominates the Japanese legal system by pleading “not guilty.”
Cast is led by Ryo Kase, who stars in Clint Eastwood’s upcoming “Letters From Iwo Jima.” Other name cast includes Koji Yakusho (“Memoirs of a Geisha,” “Babel”) and Asaka Seto (“One Missed Call”).
Pic, which is world preeming at AFM, was produced by the powerful moviemaking arm of Fuji TV. Its Japanese release is set for Jan 20.
“Dance,” made in 1996, was subsequently remade for Miramax by helmer Peter Chelsom with Richard Gere, Jennifer Lopez and Susan Sarandon in the leads.
