The Rotterdam Film Festival has set up a Sales Club which kicks off at the January event.
“We want to ensure that everyone who should be at Cinemart comes to Cinemart and has a really efficient worthwhile working time,” said Marnix van Wijk, the fest’s new head of international PR. “We will be setting aside additional space in the main Doelen building for Cinemart guests to hold meetings and use the Internet. We will also be creating a new ‘industry’ badge.
“There is a certain category of film that it has been proved really benefit from a Rotterdam premiere, such as ‘Noi Albinoi’ and ‘The Inheritors, so we are actively talking to sales agents and producers about locking in these pictures,” van Wijk said.
Fest insists that it is not expanding or attempting to rival the Berlin fest, which follows only a week later.
Event runs Jan. 24-Feb, 4, with its influential Cinemart project mart operational Jan. 28-Feb. 1.
