French distrib nabs Mongolian-set drama
PUSAN — Bragging rights for the first deal of the Pusan market were claimed by French distrib Pretty Pictures which bought all French speaking rights in Europe to Chinese film “Tuya’s Marriage.”
Mongolian-set drama sees a nomad woman attempt to get remarried in order to solve her financial difficulties. As she auditions suitors the web of deceit wraps tighter.
Pretty prexy James Velaise saw the movie at last month’s Beijing Screenings and completed the deal in Pusan with the newly established sales arm of China Film Promotion International.
Pic is directed by Wang Quan An and was produced by Maxyculture Industry Co and the Xi’an Studios. Thesp Yu Nan has growing int’l rep thanks to credits including “The Story of Ermei” and French-made “Fureur” helmed by Karim Dridi.
