Kinowelt bakes Berlin’s ‘Snow Cake’

Pic will open at Berlin fest

Kinowelt Filmverleih has acquired German rights to “Snow Cake,” the Canada-set relationship movie that will open the Berlin festival on Feb 9.

Pic is helmed by the U.K.’s Mark Evans and stars Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver and Carrie-Anne Moss. Production is by Andrew Eaton, Gina Carter and Niv Fichman.

International rights are repped by Hong Kong- and Amsterdam-based Fortissimo Film Sales, which last week secured a German deal with Concorde for “Candy,” also on the Berlin competition slate. Deal was scored by Fortissimo’s Nicole Mackey and Kinowelt’s Rainer Koelmel.
