Asian Television Forum unveils $3 million fund

SINGAPORE — Singapore and Indonesia used the Asian Television Forum as a platform Wednesday to unveil a $3 million fund for digital movie-making.

Cash pool will put $300,000 in 10 movie projects over a span of two years. Films will be managed in Singapore, lensed in high-definition in Indonesia and posted in Singapore. International sales will be handled by Singapore-based TV distributor 6-6-8.

Concept is a joint effort between Singapore production and digital post shingle Mega Media and Indonesia’s Omnicron Meia Kreasi with coin from the Media Development Authority of Singapore and Indonesian Directorate of Film, Arts and Cultural Values.

Also, a pact between Singapore’s MediaCorp and Japanese pubcaster NHK will launch a twice yearly documentary pitching event. Called the Asian Pitch, sessions will be open to docs from the region in need of funding.
