New Indonesian distribber Blitz Entertainment kicked up a storm at its debut Cannes market, licensing rights to more than a dozen titles from sales companies worldwide.
From U.S.’s Voltage Pictures it bought “El Cantante,” “Sisters” and “Mutant Chronicles.” From Blighty-based The Works Intl. it bought “Hitched” while from Capitol Films it bought “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead,” “Dream of the Red Mansions” and “You Kill Me.” From Fabrication Films it bought “After Dark.”
Company, which is building multiplexes in Jakarta and Bandung, also hopes to introduce the archipelago to the “Korean wave” of entertainment sweeping the rest of Asia.
It licensed “When Romance Meets Destiny” and “Bloody Tie” from MK Pictures. From Korean major CJ Entertainment it picked up “Restless” and “Love Phobia.”
In Cannes, Blitz was represented by company co-prexy Ananda Siregar and by Mirjam Wertheim of L.A.-based Orange Entertainment.
