Nordic TV production outfit Zodiak Television will launch mobile and online TV channel Vidiots following a deal with online content specialist Kamera.
Vidiots, which will feature funny homevideos, is the first project to come out of Zodiak’s newly launched mobile development group 5th Element, a division created to meet the increasing demand for strong mobile and IPTV content.
Channel has already been picked up for distribution via two operators, Tele2 and Orange, with more deals in the works.
“Real life produces the most comical situations, and there are no geographical limitations for this kind of content. We look forward to amusing mobile users worldwide,” said Oscar Hoglund, head of mobile at Zodiak.
Vidiots is based on Zodiak’s extensive archive of more than 6,000 funny vidclips. The best have been selected and packaged into a mobile comedy TV channel that is available either as a clip service, offering two new programs per week, or as a live streamed channel.
