Warner Bros. has upped Simon Kenny to prexy of the studio’s newly formed Digital Distribution unit, where he’ll oversee the studio’s worldwide digital strategy.
He also will manage the flow of content over all existing and emerging digital platforms, such as video-on-demand and wireless.
Kenny, who is now the European head of Warner Bros. Intl. Television Distribution, won’t assume the new job full time until the end of May, after the L.A. screenings for foreign TV buyers.
Now based in London, Kenny will relocate to Los Angeles.
Digital unit is part of the Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group, led by Kevin Tsujihara and formed last fall as part of a major restructuring by Warners.
Kenny has served as exec VP, Europe, of WBITD since January 2004. Before that, he spent a decade at Walt Disney Television International. In 2000, he was named senior VP and managing director of the Walt Disney Internet Group’s European operation.
Warners said a new head of WBITD will be announced in the coming weeks.
