Mumusic label to focus on new technology, talent
Reality TV tycoon John de Mol’s Talpa Music has pacted with Sony BMG to launch Netherlands-based music label 8Ball Music to foster new talent, with a focus on digital technology.
Former EMI employees Tony van de Berkt and Robin van Beek have been hired as general manager and marketing manager.
Talpa Music prexy Tony Berk added that although the label was focused on digital, Sony BMG’s involvement would “ensure swift and effective physical distribution of creative products.”
Music publisher Talpa Music was founded in 2004. In January 2005, it merged with 2P’sW, then one of the largest independent music publishers in Benelux.
The company now has a music catalog of more than 300,000 titles and works with hundreds of local and international artists.
