Spain’s ONO in the ‘House’

Hit skein offered on VOD

MADRID — Spanish cable TV operator ONO is offering Fox hit “House” on video-on-demand starting today as part of a pioneering nonexclusive deal, closed in 2005 by ONO and NBC Universal Spain, for its Ojo VOD service.

Ojo will sell the first 11 episodes, launching a second batch in August to complete the show’s first season.

Skein airs on Sogecable’s new terrestrial broadcaster Cuatro and has been one of the highlights of the TV season in Spain, averaging a 12.3% share and 2.2 million viewers, doubling Cuatro’s average channel share.

Ojo already offers episodes of U.S. dramas such as “Monk” and “Law & Order.”

Ojo’s more than 400,000 clients can buy dramas for E0.49 (62¢) per episode and firstrun films for $3.77.
