Studio involves the vidgame's players in its film promotions
Vidgamers used to controlling the action in “Silent Hill” will have to sit back for the franchise’s next iteration: a pic from Sony’s TriStar label.
But the studio is getting the horror game’s hardcore fans involved in the film’s marketing by letting them design and select the poster.
Fans submitted more than 2,000 poster concepts made from more than 50 stills provided by the studio. Visits to the “Silent Hill” Web site voted to select the top 50 and then Sony TriStar execs picked five finalists for the one-sheet.
Fans now get to pick the winner, whose poster will be used by Sony in the last month or so of marketing, and possibly on the DVD. Winner also gets $2,500 and a framed copy.
That may be nothing, however, compared to the glory of bragging rights among fanboys across the Net.
