Sony BMG logs digital duo

Dinsdale joins up with music giant

Scott Dinsdale, former digital strategist for the Motion Picture Assn., has joined Sony BMG as exec VP, digital operations and new technology. Dinsdale had worked for BMG before working for Jack Valenti.

Concurrently, Sony BMG has promoted Thomas Gewecke to exec VP, global digital business.

Dinsdale will oversee worldwide digital operations for Sony BMG as well as new format and emerging technology development. Dinsdale and Gewecke, based in New York, will report to Thomas Hesse, Sony BMG’s president of global digital business.

Most recently, Dinsdale was a consultant and business development director to Accenture, focusing on media and entertainment opportunities. At the MPA, he was responsible for developing and guiding the industry’s activities in the digital arena. Prior to that, he served as senior VP-chief technology officer and chief information officer for BMG Entertainment.

Gewecke, meanwhile, will be responsible for all relationships with digital partners and revenues generated in the U.S.; direct the company’s international digital business development through regional teams in Europe, Asia and Latin America; and oversee the development of new digital business areas and product lines.

He was most recently senior vice president, Global Digital Business Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment. From 1999-2004, Gewecke served as senior VP, business development, Sony Music Digital Services.
