Reliance Energy’s direct-to-home service, Reliance Bluemagic, has gotten approval for its launch from the Indian Information & Broadcasting Ministry.

Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group’s Bluemagic will be the fifth DTH player in the Indian market.

Tata-Sky, News Corp.’s DTH joint venture with Indian conglom Tata, launched Aug. 8, joining pubcaster Doordarshan’s DD Direct+ and Subhash Chandra’s Dish TV services.

Kalanithi Maran’s DTH Sun Direct was put on hold after Indian communications satellite INSAT 4-C exploded soon after takeoff on July 16.
