Google gets Nash cache
Reality producer Nash Entertainment is taking its TV library online in a deal with Google.
Netco will digitize Nash’s series and specials, which includes “World’s Scariest Police Shootouts,” “Prisoners Out of Control,” and “Cheating Spouses Caught on Tape.”
Nash will then sell the skeins through Google’s Video Store, which allows content owners to set their own price and usage restrictions. Deal is non-exclusive, meaning Nash can and quite possibly will sell its skeins through other online retailers, such as Apple iTunes.
It’s unusual for independent producers such as Nash to retain digital rights and make their own online distribution pacts. Most such deals have been with networks. CBS is thus far the only broadcast net to sell its shows on Google Video.
