Longtime Buena Vista Home Entertainment exec Dennis Maguire has been named prexy of international for Paramount Home Entertainment.
Maguire, who spent 23 years at BVHE, will report to Kelley Avery, prexy of worldwide home entertainment for Paramount Motion Picture Group.
Maguire ankled the Mouse House several months ago, before the studio restructured its operations and merged its domestic and international distribution and marketing into one global unit headed by Bob Chapek.
Maguire will be responsible for the division’s sales, marketing and distribution of the studio’s home entertainment product. He also oversees the home entertainment division’s international efforts for MTV Network Properties, CBS, PBS and Hasbro, as well as fulfillment services for DreamWorks Animation Home Entertainment.
Maguire will head all expansive distribution efforts covering all countries outside the U.S. and Canada.
The international prexy post has been vacant since January, when Phil Jackson departed the studio.
During his tenure at BVHE, Maguire served in a variety of executive roles, exiting the studio as prexy of Buena Vista Home Entertainment Intl. He also served as senior veep of sales and distribution.
As one of the division’s top execs, Maguire is credited with overseeing BVHE’s international expansion efforts, establishing the company’s presence in China and India and spearheading new technology with a download-to-own electronic business model, Movie Express, in Japan.
