Media Matchmaker finds filmmakers additional funds

New Web site Media Matchmaker is set to hook up producers of movies and TV shows with advertisers on the prowl for product placement.

Advertisers can enter detailed information on what they’re looking for in the way of content appropriate to their products, and what they’re willing to spend to get it.

Producers and other entrepreneurs can state their willingness to open their programming to advertisers with a brand or a product that can be embedded in a scene.

Product placement has become a multimillion-dollar business as more and more people zip through commercials with digital video recorders.

Based in Culver City, Calif., Media Matchmaker is run by co-founders Betsy Green and Jim Mahoney. They’re offering a free trial period for prospective clients during the next six weeks. As of March 1, businesses wishing to use the service will have to pony up a monthly subscription fee.
