MTV Networks Latin America has launched LaZona.com, a social networking site for bands and music fans in Latin America.
LaZona.com was developed by MTV Latin America’s new media group with U.S.-based online community agency LiveWorld.
Akin to myspace.com and other online communities, users can build a network of friends through profiles, blogs, pictures and forums.
LaZona.com has already registered more than 10,000 bands and 12,000 other users, MTV Latin America said.
MTV also introduced adiosgarage.com, a platform where unknowns can showcase their music and attract fans who can then vote for a band to perform at a monthly “MTV Alerta Live” event.
