Gervais, 'Office' collaborators pact with Audible

Ricky Gervais‘ got iPod listeners addicted to his 12-episode run of podcasts for Guardian Unlimited. Now their next fix is going to cost them.

Audible Inc. has a deal with “The Office” funnyman and collaborators Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington to exclusively distribute “The Ricky Gervais Show” for two new seasons.

For $6.95, listeners will get four new episodes delivered weekly. The second season started Feb. 28; a third kicks off in the fall.

The first series clocked about 3 million downloads. Time will tell if the new fees diminish demand.
