Not-for-profit film org IFP and Current TV are teaming on a filmmaking competish that will allow aspiring auteurs to upload their entries onto Current’s Web site.
Short docu pics will be accepted through June 30. On Aug. 30, 10 winners will be announced for what’s being dubbed the Current/IFP VC2 Showcase.
Winners will also be screened at the 28th IFP Market this fall.
“The partnership with Current TV allows IFP to capitalize on its strength in reaching emerging filmmakers, providing them with tangible ways to showcase their work on broadcast, Web and theatrical platforms,” said IFP exec director Michelle Byrd.
Plan was hatched with Current prexy, sales and marketing Anne Kallin Zehren.
Current is aimed at involving young people in news and the creative process. At least one-third of the cabler’s content is generated by its audience.
