Former Nickelodeon prexy Albie Hecht is extending his new Worldwide Biggies production shingle into the crowded CG animated film market.
Producer is pacting with Spanish animation house Ilion Animations Studios on “Planet One,” a toon about aliens visited by a strange individual who comes on a ship labeled “NASA.”
Joe Stillman, co-writer of “Shrek” and “Shrek 2,” has been tapped to pen the script.
Ilion parent company Wisdom Entertainment is funding the film, which has a budget of $50 million.
Hecht plans to begin talks with potential distributors soon. Release is targeted for 2008.
Worldwide Biggies has a TV deal with Nickelodeon. As such, Paramount could be a natural home for “Planet One.”
When he was entertainment prexy of Nick, Hecht produced pics including “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius” and “The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.”
“Planet One” will be the first feature for Ilion, which was founded by experienced videogame developers.
Hecht connected with Ilion while looking for a toon house for “Tricksters,” a feature he is developing.
