Revenue leaps 57% in first half of 2006

PARIS — The French Internet advertising market leapt 57% to nearly Euros 1 billion ($1.26 billion) in the first half of 2006, according to figures published by the Internet Advertising Bureau.

Advertisers spent Euros 994 million ($1.3 billion) on the net, repping 9% of ad coin across all sectors, up from 5.9% in the first half of 2005.

Search engines saw their slice of the Internet ad market fall from 64% to 47%, with more advertisers switching to sites providing information and other content, the IAB reported.
