Fuji deal means Webcast of shows

Net will pay perf fees to production houses upfront

TOKYO — Japan’s Fuji TV will Webcast its shows thanks to a deal with the Japan Assn. of Music Enterprises, which reps talent shops and production houses.

Fuji will pay perf fees to the production houses upfront, including a portion based on an estimate of Webcasting revenues.

With the deal in place, Fuji will go ahead with plans to preem a show on its satellite service later this month.

Following the half-hour satellite broadcasts, from Monday to Friday, Fuji will offer the show on the Web, with viewers paying 89¢ per-view or an $8.89 monthly fee.
