Duo pact for family ‘Christmas’

$10 mi pic skedded for December 2008

SEOUL — U.K.-based licensing group Copyright Promotions has pacted with South Korea’s Sieundesign to attract investment and collaborate in the production of 3-D animated feature “Merry Christmas Tete,” helmed by Jang Uk-sang

Family pic, in which Santa’s helpers have only one Christmas present to deliver to an entire village, is budgeted at $10 million and skedded for a December 2008 release.

Copyright Promotions will raise half of the film’s budget, negotiate a U.S. distribution deal and engage in co-marketing activities. Copyright will be co-owned by the two companies, with Sieundesign retaining distribution rights outside of the U.S.

Seoul-based Sieundesign, headed by prexy Im Sieun, is active in animation and global licensing.
