Comedy’s ‘Samurai’ going mobile

Eight animated mobisodes planned

Comedy Central will premiere “Samurai Love God,” its first original mobile offering, in early spring.

The animated series will star Jenna Jameson, comedian Lisa Lampanelli and “The Daily Show” correspondent Ed Helms. Eight 2½-minute “mobisodes” are planned.

Comedy Central has previously repurposed material from “The Daily Show” and other series for the mobile platform, but “Samurai Love God” marks the station’s first original material for the super-small screen. More is in the pipeline.

Cabler’s broadband MotherLoad hasn’t been shy with original content.

Last year, Fox broke ground with its spinoff “24: Conspiracy” mobisodes. However, Kiefer Sutherland was conspicuously absent from the original minute-long segments. The network’s new “24”-related mobisodes will comprise clips from the show’s earlier seasons.
