Movie deal covers pics for BT Vision

LONDON — British Telecom and Disney’s distribution arm, Buena Vista International Television, have inked a multi-year VOD movie deal.

The arrangement will allow U.K. auds to watch such movies as “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” on soon-to-be launched service BT Vision, which will offer broadband-delivered entertainment to the telco’s broadband subscribers.

Contract covers upcoming, current and library movies from BVITV’s portfolio and will include fare from Walt Disney Pic-tures, Touchstone Pictures and Miramax Films.

Apart from the Johnny Depp vehicle, other titles featured are “Memoirs of a Geisha,” “‘The Shaggy Dog” and “Scary Movie 4.”

The Disney deal follows content agreements between BT and the likes of DreamWorks, i-concerts, Eagle Rock, BBC Worldwide, Paramount, Warner Music Group, National Geographic Channel, HIT Entertainment, Momentum, Universal, Nelvana, Sony BMG, Viacom and Turner Broadcasting.
