Japanese toon maker Gonzo has signed an output deal with Hong Kong-based Animax Asia, which operates a 24-hour cable and satellite TV channel specializing in Japanese toons and reaches 25 million in Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Philippines.
First title to be released under the deal is “Trinity Blood,” which bowed on Animax’s Hong Kong strand June 1. Other toons on the initial slate are “Samurai 7,” “The Count of Monte Cristo” and “Hellsing.”
“We intend to expand the number of titles, but for now only TV series are included in the deal,” said Gonzo rep Hiroko Kimura. Arthur Smith, who manages international sales for Gonzo parent GDH, closed the deal with Animax.
