Details: Signaling a move from online retail to online entertainment, Amazon.com will produce and exclusively air a half-hour weekly talkshow starring Maher.
Show will stream live Thursdays starting June 1 and be available on-demand thereafter. Amazon, which is repped in Hollywood by UTA, has ordered 13 episodes.
After a monologue, Maher will interview talent from the book, movie and music worlds.
Amazon not only draws new customers to and promotes material it sells, but will integrate marketers into the show, starting with UPS.
That could take the Netco out of promotional short films, which it has previously made, and into for-profit production and distribution of new skeins.
If “Fishbowl” succeeds, Amazon.com already has other projects in development.
