USC draws toon grant

Hench estate gives $5 million gift

The USC School of Cinema-Television has received a $5 million gift from the estate of late Disney animation artist John C. Hench (“Peter Pan,” “Fantasia,” “Alice in Wonderland”). Coin will be used to create the John C. Hench Division of Animation & Digital Arts.

The endowment, provided by the board of trustees of the John C. Hench Foundation, will fund faculty and student assistant positions and underwrite artists in residence, hosting symposia, producing exhibits, animation shows and DVDs and obtaining state-of-the-art technology.
