iTunes to offer ‘Blade’

MTV pacts with Apple on new batch of shows

The two-hour premiere episode of “Blade: The Series,” which chalked up good ratings for Spike TV on Wednesday night, will show up for free on iTunes through July 11.

“Blade” is only one of a batch of new TV shows that Spike TV’s parent MTV Networks has sold to Apple for downloading on the iTunes Web site.

Also on iTunes are MTV’s prank-comedy show “Viva La Bam,” five episodes from the first season of TV Land’s “Sit Down Comedy With David Steinberg” and 25 episodes from seasons one and two of Bill Cosby’s animated skein “Fatherhood.” All will cost $1.99 an episode on iTunes.

MTV said its Comedy Central sibling has a hit on iTunes with “South Park,” which has racked up more than a million downloads at $1.99 apiece.

Apple now offers more than 150 TV shows for downloading onto a computer or an iPod for $1.99 an episode.
