Fox climbs ‘Hill’ in January

Animated comedy will return to Sunday nights

“King of the Hill” returns to its former Sunday night throne in mid-January, Fox officially announced Thursday.

“King,” which Fox came close to abdicating earlier this year, premieres its 11th season on Sunday, Jan. 21, at 7:30 p.m.

The second-longest running sitcom in primetime (behind only “The Simpsons”), “King of the Hill” had been let loose by Fox, with production more or less shutting down more than a year ago. But the net had a change of heart last spring and fired up the show’s engines for another go (Daily Variety, March 20).

The long lead time for animation meant that the 11th season won’t be ready until January, hence the midseason bow.

The Emmy-winning comedy, created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels (who also exec produce), comes from 20th Century Fox TV and exec producers John Altschuler, Dave Krinsky, Michael Rotenberg and Howard Klein.

Judge continues to voice lead character Hank Hill; Kathy Najimy, Brittany Murphy, Pamela Segall, Johnny Hardwick, Stephen Root, Breckin Meyer and Lauren Tom also provide main character voices.
