Viacom Japan to launch vid site

Flux Web site to offer free content for broadband users

TOKYO — Viacom Intl. Japan, a subsid of MTV Networks, will launch a vid-sharing site for broadband users, the company announced Monday.

The Flux Web site will offer free content from Viacom channels MTV, Nickelodeon and BET, together with non-Viacom branded music, anime, pic previews and user-generated content.

Much of the content comes from preprogrammed channels plus vid clips from Flux’s library.

Users will be able to create their own channels from this content and share them with others — in other words, go into competition with MTV.

“Flux revolutionizes the way audiences view and use video content — putting them in complete control,” said MTV Networks chair-CEO Judy McGrath.
