MTV is marshaling a wide array of online, broadband and wireless technology to showcase its primetime carriage of the MTV Movie Awards.
Computer users logging in to MTV.com/overdrive will call up exclusive programming material that will not appear on the June 8 cablecast.
When the live feed concludes, another Web site, MovieAwards.MTV.com, will allow people to customize their own version of the show by manipulating on-demand segments from the kudocast.
The exclusive footage will include backstage diaries of the nominees, fashion pieces on what the stars wore and interviews with the winners.
Tenth Planet will produce the live show, with Joel Gallen and Salli Frattini as exec producers and Gallen as director.
The most-nominated movies this year are “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and “Wedding Crashers,” each with five.
