After a fall in which a flood of midterm House and Senate candidates raised contributions from the entertainment industry, the money race largely comes to an end this weekend. Chris McGurk and Alan Horn are scheduled to host events Thursday at their homes for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic National Committee, respectively, with Nancy Pelosi and Howard Dean expected. Candidates still will be working the phones, looking for last minute infusions of cash. Sheldon Whitehouse, trying to unseat Lincoln Chafee, has been rounding up additional money, and others are bound to come forward. It’s too early to tell whether any kind of records were set, although the Center for Responsive Politics reports that all House and Senate candidates have raised $1.3 billion this election.
